تعتبر من افضل الجامعاتالهندية تاسست عام1948م، ويسميهاالبعض باوكسفورد الشرق ، حيث انها تضاهي بعض الجامعات الأمريكية ، حيث خرجت العديدمن العلماء والمفكرين ، وجامعة بونا على راس الجامعات المعترف بها عالميا وعربيا وتقع مدينة بونا الهندية في شمال جنوب الهند ، وتبعد عن العاصمة دلهي 12ساعة بالقطار ،والتي تبعد 180كيلومتر عن بومبي العاصمة التجاريةاي حوالي 4 ساعاتسفرعن بومبي ، والطقس فيها معتدل وهي منطقة سياحية ونسبة الهندوس فيها اكثر منالمسلمين
